Robert Lovering Mudgett Early Life, Career, and Parents

Robert Lovering Mudgett was born in the late 1800’s which was a period of social and industrial evolution in the United States of America. He was the son of H. H. Holmes, a man who is considered as one of America’s serial killer.

Despite this Robert early life was rather detached from the criminal endeavors that his father had embarked on though his family name was well known in the criminal underworld. His childhood categorized by American traditions can be described as rather traditional for the American boy of the given period with the emphasis made on education and the process of living.

But there was always the memory of his father actions which influenced the future of the family including its reputation. However, he tried to create the new life and break with criminal activity and try to leave the notorious past behind and create his own destiny which was later linked to his family name.

Career

To distance himself as far as possible from the post H. H. Holmes atrocities, Robert Lovering Mudgett proceeded to build a new life for himself. This was quite a departure from his father who was known for his evil actions and who did not hesitate to murder to get what he wanted.

Robert decided to go straight and earn an honest living. He moved around in different fields throughout his life but he took jobs that made him lead ordinary life and did not like to be in the limelight. The specifics of his working life can however, still be largely surmised and understood, though it’s also likely that Robert never wanted to be a public figure in the first place.

It was in an unrelated field and was chosen so that he can leave behind the family business, his father’s infamy and turn a new page on his life. Hence, I must confess that Robert managed to live a rather private life and make sure not to follow in his father’s footsteps.

About Parents: H. H. Holmes

H. Holmes also known as Herman Webster Mudgett, was one of the most heinous criminals to exist in the United States of America. Holmes was a famous killer who worked in the end of the nineteenth century.

He got famous for his ‘Murder Castle’ in Chicago where he killed many people. He committed horrific acts of murder and did these systematically; he was hunted down and was put to death for his wrong doings.

Clara Lovering, was the first wife of Holmes, she was the mother of Robert. The couple married when Holmes was still Herman Mudgett still before he transformed into the criminal that the world knows him to be.

Holmes and Clara had a very complex and distant relationship and she left him taking her son Robert with her. This may have saved Robert from being a direct victims of his father’s criminal activities to a certain extent allowing him to grow up being relatively removed from his father’s wrong doings.
