Sara Bareilles was raised catholic, though she is of English, German, French, Portuguese and Italian heritage. She can also play the piano, and all the other instruments she has used while producing her albums on her own.
Bareilles studied in Eureka High School and her organizations involvement included the choir, musical theater and community theater. Happily, she attended the University of California, Los Angeles after her high school leaving in 1999.
During her time at UCLA she became a member of an all-girls A Cappella group known as the “Awaken A Cappella”. When she began to perform as a solo artist, her first highlight or show was in spring sing. For two consecutive years she was given the title of the best performer on campus.
Career
Ever since the day Bareilles completed her studies at UCLA she has been working to become a professional musician she initially began singing at bars and clubs and gradually progressed to booking herself at club venues and a few other similar places as she began to gain a loyal fan base.
The following year she inked a record deal with the Epic Records and began writing her second album. In 2006 she toured with Marc Broussard for his tour as well as with Aqualung, Mika, Maroon 5, Paolo Nutini and James Blunt in 2007.
In October of 2008, she released a live DVD and CD package, “Between the Lines: She also released an episode called “Sara Bareilles Lie at the Fillmore,” which contained the performance she recorded while at The Fillmore strip in San Francisco.
She started the second headlining tour called the Gravity Tour in the spring of 2009 in support of the single “Gravity”. She also released a free live acoustic EP which were recorded from the Gravity tour.
