Early Life
Suge Knight full names were Marion Hugh Knight Jr, who was born on the 19th of April in the year 1965 in Compton, California. His childhood nickname which was sweet was “Sugar Bear” which led to the future nickname “Suge” Knight is the son to Maxine and Marion Knight Sr.
Suge attended Lynwood high school, where he was a star in both football and track and was awarded his high school diploma in 1983. He played football at El Camino College for two years then in 1985 he transferred to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he played football for two years.
Knight was signed as a substitute player during the 1987 NFL Players Strike with the Los Angeles Rams. He tried and took part in two matches with them.
Career
Knight, following his tenure with the NFL, turned to concert promotion, as well as working as a bodyguard for such stars as Bobby Brown. In 1989 Knight also created his own music publishing firm and found himself hitting pay dirt when Vanilla Ice voluntarily turned over all the royalties to Knight for his smash hit “Ice Baby”.
Knight and his bodyguards apparently approached Vanilla Ice repeatedly to bully him into transferring the song rights; Knight is accused of going into Vanilla Ice’s hotel room and allegedly suspending him by his ankles off the balcony.
After that, Knight created an artist management company by signing hip-hop artists DJ Quik and The D.O.C., the former of whom introduced Knight to many members of the gangsta rap group N.W.A.
Hit and Run Incident
The former rap mogul, Suge Knight was charged of being involved in hit-and-run accident in Compton early in the year 2015, particularly on January 29. It could have been connected to a fight that happened at a set of a movie. Other individuals claimed they saw knight known as Suge back his truck over the victim and drove away. Suge is said to have escaped from the scene and dumped the car in a parking lot.
On September 20, 2018, Suge was found ‘not guilty’ of murder, but guilty of voluntary manslaughter, and he could be sentenced to mandatory 27 to 28 years in state prison.
